Establishes and maintains departmental safety, environmental and infection control standards, a quality improvement program, and policies and procedures.
Prepares written documentation as required by the department. Performs the duties of a Physical Therapist as required.Conducts training programs on physical therapy techniques for medical and nursing staff and students.Reviews, develops or modifies work plans, methods and procedures, determines work priorities and develops work schedules to provide adequate staff coverage. Provides work instruction and assists employees with difficult and/or unusual assignments; encourages innovation. Assigns and distributes work, reviews work for accuracy and completeness and returns assignments with recommendations for proper completion. Conducts hiring interviews and selects candidate(s) for job opening(s). Resolves problems and mediates conflicts encountered during daily operations and determines appropriate solutions; promotes teamwork. upervises the activities of professional physical therapists and sub-professionals performing physical therapy on patients. Supervises the activities of professional physical therapy services for inpatients and outpatients by identifying patient needs and developing quality physical therapy programs. Handles complex patient situations in the physical work environment. Communicates observations, facts and comments with interdisciplinary team members, individually and through team meeting presentations as required.
Responds to formal and informal employee grievances and prepares written responses.By position, participates in planning and managing budget systems; prepares and presents budget recommendations to higher management; operates within budget parameters; adjusts work plans/activities as a result of budget changes.
