1- Establishes billing and pricing structures for pharmaceuticals subject to the approval of the hospital.
2- Establishes method of storage of pharmaceuticals. Minimizes expiry of pharmaceuticals.
3- Controls inventory levels and ordering process according to annual budget.
4- Prepares annual budget for the department.
5- Provides clear, understandable instructions to discharge patients in a language known to patient with information leaflets if possible.
6- Acts as a liaison with nursing and medical staff concerning prescriptions orders, drugs and pharmaceutical details, resident reactions, errors and complaints.
7- Ensuring the dispensing of medications with clear instructions and correct labeling to patients.
8- Plans, organized and supervises activities in the hospital pharmacy areas according to hospital policies and directives.
9- Drugs Monitoring
10- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environment and injection control standards.
11- Implements decisions of the drug Committee meetings. Actively participates as a member of the committees as required.
12- Conduct Drug Utilization Reviews and prepares Drug Review Criteria for medical staff review and approval.
13- Ensures secure storage of narcotics and other controlled substances on a regular basis.
14- Checks that drugs ordered correspond with conditions of patients, overdoses do not occur, allergies and drug interactions have been excluded.
15- Monthly reports on goods received, pharmacy revenue and other reports as required by the Accounts department.
